| cake decorating class and gym? |

I'm looking for a cake decorating class on the island, near NDG if at all possible. I looked up some previous posts mentioning the Cake Queen and Chef a la Carte, but CQ's courses website isn't working, and Chef a la carte appears to only have a 2-session course on a Sunday. I'm really looking for an evening course, something that might run over a few weeks maybe. Does anyone know if anything like that is available?
Second thing I'm looking for is gym info... I know there is an Energie Cardio on Sherbrooke and a YMCA in NDG, but neither of their websites seem to give any information on what the membership costs are like. If anyone can give me an idea that would be much appreciated... If there are other gyms in the area that are friendly, reasonably-priced, have free weights and are female-friendly (not necessarily female only), I'd love to hear about them too!

My son found a wedding ring at Macdonald Park a few days ago. We've put signs up in the neighbourhood, but just in case ... it's the park bordered by Earnscliffe, Isabella, Clanranald (is that right?) and Dupuis. Lots of dog-walkers and soccer-players through there all the time.
If you can tell me a little about the ring, I'd be overjoyed to get it to you. You can email me at luanshya at yahoo dot com.

I'm spending the summer in Montreal from Victoria, BC with my kids.
I have a 9 month old baby, and I'd like to take him in to have what I know as a "Well-Baby Check-Up", just a basic weight-check/once over, etc. We all have BC health cards, and I'd prefer to be able to use it and not pay cash out of pocket.
Does anyone know where we could do this? Anywhere close to The Plateau where we're staying would be great, as we're car-free.

Dear Montreal members... Don't let this happen to you.
To the couple who sat next to my friend and I at Hurley's, in the loungy area with couches, Friday July 17th from 5:30 to 6:00: I remember everything.
You, the guy: I remember your close-cropped hair and hip-hop hat. I remember your cleft chin, your pearly whites, your light tan on your Caucasian skin. I remember those loose jeans, trendy running shoes and thick white t-shirt with asymetrical print pattern. I remember the way you didn't look at your menu, at all, and I remember how you laughed in a slightly fake, douchebag way as you leaned in to kiss your "girlfriend". I especially remember the half-sleeve of tattoos you sport on your right arm, and the way its tribals end in a light spike just past the elbow joint, on the muscle mass there. I remember your height, your weight, and especially your face.
You, the white girl: I remember your thick, curly, reddish-brown hair, down to your shoulderblades. I remember your green eyes when you looked at me right in the face as you got up to go (presumably) to the bathroom. I remember your thick, rectangular, branded black plastic prescription eyewear. I remember your sleeveless, knee-length black and red dress with mesh overlay. I remember your height, your weight, and the way you walked briskly with your platform sandals.
I remember you did not eat nor drank anything. You just sat next to us and left by the closest exit once you did what you felt like doing.
My friend Danixa does not remember you; she cried the loss of the wallet you stole, and stresses at the thought of having lost her residency ID, and the 300$ in cash she was to wire to her Peruvian family later this evening.
But *I* remember. We know you attempted to buy stuff with her AMEX card at Futureshop between 6 and 7; We know you used her MC card at 6:15. I remember and if I find you on Crescent someday, I'll be calling the cops, to whom we've reported all of the above and more, with glee in my heart.
Rot in hell, you low-life scum, or so Gods help me, I'll make sure you do if I find you.

| Lost all black cat |

I posted this on Craigslist and Kijiji, and thought I'd try my luck here as well.
My all black cat tends to go outside alot, but always comes home come night fall. He's been in and out of the house for well over a year now. Knows the area very very well(we've seen him while out walking out dog all over the neighborhood). We've been in the same appartment for nearly a year as well.
But, about 5/6 days ago, he went out and never returned. I didn't think anything of it, because over the winter, he was gone for 3 days straight before coming home(thinking someone took him in, or he went and got shelter wherever he was). But that has been the only time he didn't return home.
I'm worried for him. I will be going to the SPCA this weekend to see if he was brought it, but thought to post this here, just in case.
We live in Ville Emard, corner of Monk and Allard. He is a small 2 year old cat, with a scar on his left ear(missing a small patch of hair there as well as it's healed).
He answers to the name Diego, or meow(making the cat sound). My daughters(6 and 3) are missing him, and I would like any information I can get. Where I could look, what to put on signs...ect. I may have a picture of him on the internet, but I'd have to hunt it down, and do not want to wait any longer.
If you've found him, please write me back right away. I would come and get him regardless of the time.
Thanks

A friend and I will be traveling to Montreal in August for Anticipation - the SciFi WorldCon - and plan to stay a few days to see the sights. I am looking for recommendations on inexpensive hotels as well as places to avoid. Our main requirements are that there be parking, private bath and internet access available. Any suggestions on things to do, and things not to miss would be welcome as well Thanks.

I've heard of places where they sell a lot of used office furniture, but don't know where they are. I've woken up today feeling seriously crappy from sitting in a very bad chair all day in my current job, and am determined to find something better but cheap enough for my employer to be happy to subsidize. Any suggestions where I could look?

I know Analeigh posted to her twitter that she was doing shoots for Forever21. I was browsing through their summer dresses collection, and golly, one of the models looks a lot like her. Unfortunately all the shots are from the, er, nose down, but the nose, mouth, jaw, hair all look very Analeigh to me. I'm deferring to the expertise of the community; however, what do you guys think?

I am looking for green semi-permanent or demi-permanent hair color in Montreal. I have tried numerous Pharmaprix's and Jean Coutu's, but they don't have green. I'd prefer not Manic Panic, something of more salon quality, or Punky Colour as I have used them in the past. Does anyone know where I can get this without having a license? Thank you very very much.

It seems this has been asked before, but I can’t find it in the memories; where can I get a VHS tape burned onto dvd? Thanks!
Edit: After a little more Googling, I found an ad on www.usedmontreal.com, with someone offering this service. They offered an email address, but no location. If anyone else is interested, leave a comment and I will let you know what/if they respond.

I am looking to make slip covers for a few pieces in my living room, so I need some nice, durable fabric. I was thinking a denim-type material in a solid colour. I am still pretty flexible on colours as long as it's attractive.
That being said, does anyone have any idea where I can get cheap, but still nice, bolts of fabric in the city (I think I'll ned a lot).
I know St.Hubert, Fabricville, WalMart, and maybe even salvation army/renaissance/Village Valeur... But am I missing something?

hi guys! so, I'm without a job for the rest of the summer but I'd really like some extra cash.. I'm going to Toronto next week, and returning to my home province of PEI for two weeks at the end of August. With that said, do any temporary jobs exist? Obviously, I couldn't take a job at this point and tell them I am leaving so much..Could anyone point me in any direction/throw out any advice? another question, I posted this a few weeks ago, and my ex-employer still hasn't given me my Record of Employment or 4%, after I have asked them multiple times.. is there anything that could be done? Thanks! I love this community so much,
matthew

Hello again! I posted here yesterday and got such a great response that I though I'd ask one more question. My husband and I will be arriving in the city around 5-6pm on a Sunday evening and will be looking for a place to grab a bite to eat. Are there any places in the area of our hotel that you might recommend? Thanks in advance.

First post to this great community....so nervous. :)
Anyway, my mom's looking for kitschy Canadian souvenirs that aren't too expensive to give out as gifts. She already got keychains, so looking more towards kitchen stuff such as tablecloths or whatever.
Anyone got recommendations for stores or specific items? It'd be totally appreciated.

Hello stars and starlets of the Montreal LJ community! I was wondering if anyone could help my friend and I out.
We're wondering if anyone knows where we can purchase Copic Markers? We used to buy them at Art-Tec on the corner of Parc and Sherbrooke, but the store has sadly gone out of business and so far we've had no luck at any other art shop in the area.
Distance isn't too much of a problem, but it would be helpful if the place was accessible via the Metro.
Thanks a bunch! :)
